Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life

Therapy in a safe, comfortable and private setting

Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might consider seeking help and support to face them. Challenges can come from within us or can be related to our wider environment, family, work or relationships. My role, as a psychotherapist, is to provide space and time to enable you to examine your life and understand yourself in a different way.

Sessions are available once, twice, or three-times per week. I work extensively and in depth with a wide range of issues and psychological problems.

Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives, and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy isn't about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own decisions.

At times, a need for more frequent sessions arises either in the initial consultation or during treatment. I will always discuss this with you and leave it up to you to decide.

Psychotherapy

There is often an anxiety, especially in the beginning, about how long psychotherapy may take. It is extremely important that these anxieties or wishes are brought to the work and discussed. Often people come with emotional/psychological problems that have taken years to build up, so there is a need to allow time for the work to understand you emotionally and resolve these difficulties.

Professional Background

I am a registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and abide by the code of ethics of the British Psychoanalytic Council and the UK Council for Psychotherapy. I am a professional member of The British Psychotherapy Foundation and The Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling.

I originally qualified as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, and further trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with Wpf Therapy.

I have gained valuable clinical experience from working as a psychodynamic psychotherapist in mental health charities and the NHS.

My work has always centred around working with individuals in private practice.

Session Frequency

My extensive training has deepened my understanding of the complexity of issues that a person can bring to therapy, and has given me the opportunity to understand the different benefits once weekly psychotherapy or more frequent psychotherapeutic work can bring to each individual.

"Psychoanalytic therapies involve talking to a trained therapist, usually one-to-one. This kind of therapy addresses underlying issues and causes, often from your past, which may be concerning you, or affecting your relationships with others."

"In your sessions you will be encouraged to talk freely and to look deeper into your problems and worries. It differs from many other talking therapies in that it aims to help people make deep seated change in personality and emotional development, alongside relieving troubling symptoms."

"Some people seek help for specific reasons, such as eating disorders, psycho-somatic conditions, obsessional behaviour, or phobic anxieties. Some seek help for underlying feelings of depression or anxiety, difficulties in concentrating, dissatisfaction in work or in marriage, or for an inability to form satisfactory relationships. It may benefit anyone."
